Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Keytone Applications, LLC ("Keytone Applications, LLC", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Outset mobile application (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

Account information: your email address and password (your password is handled entirely by our authentication provider, Google Firebase Authentication — we never see or store it ourselves). Alert information: anything you configure to define your ideal weather including alert names, saved locations (place name and coordinates), the weather conditions and thresholds you set, your preferred times of day, and your notification preferences for each alert. Device information: a device push token, used to deliver notifications to your device. Preferences: unit settings (°F/°C, mph/kph, etc.) and app appearance settings. Usage and diagnostic information: general app usage patterns and crash/error reports, collected automatically through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (see below) to help us understand how the Service is used and to fix bugs.

We use this information to: operate the Service, including matching the forecast against the conditions you've saved and sending you a notification when they align; authenticate you and secure your account; deliver push notifications to your device; send you transactional emails, such as a password reset link; diagnose crashes and fix bugs; and understand aggregate usage of the Service so we can improve it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information to serve third-party advertising.

We rely on the following third-party providers to operate the Service. Each processes the data described below on our behalf, under their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, our database (Cloud Firestore), our backend logic (Cloud Functions), push notification delivery (Cloud Messaging), app usage analytics (Analytics), and crash reporting (Crashlytics). Firebase receives your account information, alert data, device push token, and usage/diagnostic data. • Apple WeatherKit (Apple Inc.) — our forecast data source. Apple receives the coordinates of the locations you save to an alert, in order to return forecast data for them. See Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
• Mailgun (Mailgun Technologies, Inc.) — delivers transactional emails we send you, such as password reset links. Mailgun receives your email address and the content of those emails. See Mailgun's privacy policy at https://www.mailgun.com/privacy-policy/.

If you enable push notifications, we use your device's push token (obtained via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver alerts about matching weather. You can disable push notifications globally in the Service's settings, or per alert, at any time; doing so stops future notifications but does not delete your account or alert data.

We retain your account and alert information for as long as your account remains active. When you delete an individual alert, we immediately stop using it to send notifications and hide it from your view, but we retain it — along with its notification history — internally for analytics and product-improvement purposes, unless and until you delete your account. When you delete your account, we permanently and immediately delete your account profile, all of your alerts (including previously deleted ones), and all of your notification history from our production systems. Residual copies may briefly persist in backups before being purged in the ordinary course of our backup rotation.

We rely on our infrastructure providers' security practices, including encryption of data in transit, and we restrict access to production data to what is necessary to operate the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can review and edit your alert information, unit preferences, and notification settings at any time within the Service. You can permanently delete your account — and all associated data, as described above — from the Service's Settings screen, or by contacting us at support@outsetweather.app.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@outsetweather.app and we will delete it.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request erasure of your data (which you can also do yourself by deleting your account); restrict or object to certain processing; and receive your data in a portable format. We process your data on the basis of our contract with you (to provide the Service you signed up for) and, for analytics and crash reporting, our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@outsetweather.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, as described in this Policy; request deletion of your personal information (which you can also do yourself by deleting your account); and request correction of inaccurate personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale/sharing opt-out to exercise. Our service providers may process and store data in the United States or other countries outside your own. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws than your country of residence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
